Moorlands South West
Moorlands South West, supported by South West Youth Ministries (SWYM), is based at Lee Abbey on the North Devon coast.
2023 marked the 10th anniversary of partnering with SWYM. We have seen over 100 people trained and equipped through the undergraduate programmes delivered there.
Why study at Moorlands South West?
Connect with other Chritians
You will be part of a cluster group within your local area. This provides you with the opportunity to gather weekly with a smaller group of SWYM trainees, and it becomes a great source of support throughout your time studying with us.
Spiritual growth
During your residential study blocks, alongside lectures, we provide space for worship, inspiration, and teaching. The idea is that you come away from the week equipped to do the job on the mission field, but also inspired again to live out our lives for Christ.
Studying at Moorlands South West enables you to give more time to serve in your chosen context, and embeds you in the wider SWYM network with all of their benefits.
Helpful insights
Lectures
Your study time will be made up of six, 4-day residentials at Lee Abbey, North Devon. During this time you will study 2 modules in community, with rhythyms of worship, inspiring teaching and wider activities. The remaining 2 modules will be delivered via the flexible learning mode of delivery.
Placement
Our key ethos in training is that whilst it is really important to know the theory, the majority of learning comes through practically doing it. This is why you will be placed in a carefully chosen placement. Each week you will complete a minimum of 6-12 hours in your placement setting, as well as the hours SWYM require.
